ST MARY'S PARISHIONERS AT WORK
  Children's Bowling Group

The first junior Bowling Club for Chorley was started at St. Mary’s Green five years ago and we the Instructors are proud of what the children have achieved in such a short time.

The Juniors have played in league games during the last two seasons for adult and junior teams as well as competing for Lancashire County, travelling into Staffordshire and Wales.

This year one of our senior girls was the first girl to be picked to play for the Lancashire  team as previously it had been an all boys team.

This year the Lancashire girls merit was held in Chorley and for the second time in five years one of our girls won the shield, becoming the Lancashire girls Individual Girls merit Winner.

On the 21st June we took all the juniors to the prestigious Waterloo bowling green in Blackpool and came home with shields and medals.
Well done everyone.

Towards the end of the season we will be holding our own Junior Presidents day when the young bowlers compete for various medals and shields, this is always a fun day

At the end of September there will be a competition on Coronation Recreation Ground, with one adult and one Junior playing together in a doubles. This is an opportunity for parents and grandparents to play with their children and is one of the very few sports that a family can do together. If any adult would like to learn to bowl please contact Maureen Belshaw by ringing the Parish Office 01257 262537.
